Serving a rotating selection of beer from local breweries and hosting weekly events with local musicians and food vendors. We recommend a visit to the Tavern paired with a trip to the beautiful Derwent country park or National Trust site, Gibside.

The Tavern's sustainability journey
The Tavern takes great care in supplying customers with local beer from the North East. Aiming to reduce its supply chain carbon footprint by sourcing from independent small scall breweries such as 'Firebrick' based only 4 miles away. As well as breweries pioneering sustainability in the region, such as 'Hadrian Border', who brew their beer using green energy. The Tavern purchases all of its cask ale directly from the brewery in order to support independent businesses.
