We are Beartown Brewery, an independent and family owned craft brewery based in Congleton, Cheshire, where we have been blending traditional brewing craftsmanship with modern innovation since 1994. Named after our town's historic bear legend and proudly run by the Manning family, we produce a diverse range of beers that includes classic cask ales and inventive craft stouts like Creme Bearlee. Along with operating our local pub estate, we invite visitors to enjoy fresh pints right where the magic happens at our Spindle Street taproom, The Den. Beyond our dedication to brewing quality beer, we are deeply embedded in our local community and actively partner with charities like Animals Asia to support bear welfare worldwide.
Good Sustainability
Sustainability Profile
Beartown Brewery integrates sustainability across its brewing operations, community initiatives, and workplace practices. Rooted in Congleton, the brewery tracks its environmental and social outputs using an internal Sustainability Tracker that logs monthly data on energy, water, waste, production volumes, and training. Environmental measures center on legal compliance, operational efficiency, adherence to the waste hierarchy, and circular agricultural partnerships that divert 100% of spent grain to local farms. Resource management is guided by targets to reduce energy per hectolitre, optimize water-to-beer ratios, and transition toward 100% renewable electricity. Socially, Beartown runs the Clawback programme, which provides ongoing funding, stock donations, and event sponsorships to regional sports clubs, emergency services, and mental health charities, alongside donating 10% of profits from its Quantock beer to Animals Asia. The brewery supports its team through structured reviews, apprenticeships, and accredited diversity, inclusion, and safety training. Transparent communication, responsible drinking practices, and formal supplier evaluations ensure ethical and accountable standards across all business activities.
